Afro Vibrant colors.

For my research blog. I researched the vibrant colors in Afro art which included Music Album, film Paintings, Digital art, fashion and photography. I stumbled upon Kewin's blog. Africa’s Vibrant Colour Palette: Symbolism in Art & Music - By Kerwin. Which I thought was an interesting blog that gave me a little insight on the deep meaning in the colors used in African art. For example, one of my favorite animation films "Kirikou and the sorceress" 1998 by Michel Ocelot. The animation consists of beautiful vibrant colors like blue, gold, red and green etc.

In Kerwin's blog he talks about the "Language of colour in African Art." I grew consuming vibrant and bold African art. The art takes a grip of you from a mile away. I would see it in church on Sunday. Bob Marley's album cover. The cultural attire me and friends wore for gatherings. But I never really paid attention to the meaning behind color. I just admired the beauty of it all. It has been such an influence in my art because I often end up creating vibrant and bold colors. Sometimes even clashing colors that wouldn't seem to go together.

Here are some examples of African Art with Vibrant colors.

Bob Marley and the Wailers; Rebel music. Album cover.

  1. I like how your research ties art/music and color with specific groups of people and culture. It's very interesting, I can't wait to learn more about it!
